A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a service which allows you to access the internet via a private connection. It allows you to surf the internet anonymously, as the connection is made via a VPN as oppose to your device and connection location. This makes it harder to track connections and potential sources of click fraud.

A TOR Exit Node is similar to a VPN, however the difference is that instead of relying on a Private Network, individuals who use a TOR Exit Node are opting not to connect with a wider network of computers. In simpler terms, imagine a maze with high walls, instead of walking through the maze, an individual opts instead to use a ladder and climb over the walls to avoid the maze.

Finally, there are the proxy servers. These are also similar to VPNs in that they allow a user to access the internet via a proxy server rather than through a direct connection. A user who uses a proxy server is therefore guaranteed a level of anonymity as a result of this.

What are Excessive Clicking Rules?

If you suspect that your ads are being targeted by fraudulent clicks, you will no doubt want to prevent this from happening.

By applying excessive clicking rules you'll be able to add, edit or delete a variety of rules which are set by yourself. These rules can be set to a certain number of clicks over a variety of time periods. These rules - when broken - trigger the visitor to be blocked from seeing you Paid Ads and therefore preventing them from running down your advertising budget.

For example - you might want to create a rule which blocks a visitor after it performs a third paid click within a single hour or the seventh click within seven days.

Your rules are not permanently fixed and you can alter them as many times as you like. This flexibility allows you to find the optimum method to block visitors or respond to specific sources of fraudulent clicks.

What is User Type Blocking?

User Type blocking enables you to block your paid ads from displaying to certain types of visitor. Using our intelligent IP data we can find out the type of user visiting your website e.g. residential, school, government, businesses, cafes. Once this has been identified, we then give you the option to block your paid ads from being displayed to that type of user.

So as an example, if your business only works with other businesses, you may decide to hide your paid ads from residential users.

OR if you think its unlikely a customer is going to call your business from a Cafe, then you may want to stop your paid ads from being displayed to them.

What is the Conversion Pixel?

The Conversion Pixel feature is a unique feature which allows you to white list website visitors based on a particular action. Alongside preventing fraudulent clicks, the Conversion Pixel feature allows you to 'whitelist' users who have already interacted with your ads positively.

For example, if a user has clicked on your ad and then became a customer by filling out a form, signing up or landing on a customer success page, you can then prevent them from seeing your ad again.

Many returning customers will just click on your ad unintentionally when returning to your website.

By using the conversion pixel, you will be able to prevent accidental ad clicks and prevent unnecessary costs. Which in return is going to have a positive impact on your campaigns.

What is Device Fingerprinting?

You may have heard about IP addresses and how they are important when identifying sources of fraudulent clicks. One of the distinct features of Click Guardian is the ability to identify fraudulent clicks without having to rely on IP addresses.

Device fingerprinting allows us to identify features of a user which are distinct from an IP address. There are hundreds of data points that make up the visitors fingerprint for example things like screen size, colour depth, device make, model and browser versions. All of these data points are collated and a fingerprint is created in real-time.

There is always the threat of a user changing an IP address to remain anonymous but with device fingerprinting, you are able to identify them without relying on the IP address.
